Leopards lost the chance to take a deep breath and head to the last match of the season with no pressure when they drew 2-2 with Jomo Cosmos on Wednesday evening.
Lidoda Duvha were simply going to be safe as they only needed 3 points to secure a place in the PSL for next season. With 28 points the team would not have to win the last game against Ajax Cape Town as they would finish with 28 points, a point above Santos who can only finish with 27 points.
It is not the matter as they have 26 points and are still within the reach of Santos.
Assistant coach Abel Makhubela agrees that the team got too excited when they led Cosmos by 2 goals to none and let the lead slip away in a matter of 10 minutes.
“Against Cosmos we got too excited as the thought of success struck our minds a little too early. The boys lost the basic plan and started to relax while the job was not finished. But what impressed me was the fact that we showed that we are capable of scoring goals no matter how much the pressure is”, Makhubela stated.

It was indeed not a disastrous game for Leopards as they could manipulate Cosmos into getting frastarated and make mistakes so they can capitalise.
“Cosmos was putting a lot of pressure on us but our plan to suck in the pressure and catch them on the break worked perfectly fine as their 4-3-3 left the back door open. It is just unfortunate that we could not keep our backline disciplined so as not to concede,” said Makhubela.
He did mention though that with every action taken one must learn from their own mistakes to be able to move forward.
“From here on I think it is up to us to make sure that we fight for what we want just like we are fighting in the CAF Cup. Most importantly we want to make the fans happy and I think they deserve that much just like we deserve to be in the Absa Premier League.
“On the weekend it is do or die against Ajax of Cape Town. If you have heard of the last kick of a dying horse then you know how strong we will hit Ajax,” concluded the Assitant coach.
