No team likes to lose and going out of their way to avoid it happening again is the plan that usually follows a loss.

That is the situation between Black Leopards and Maritzburg United. Maritzburg suffered a 4-1 defeat to provincial rivals Golden Arrows at the weekend, their third loss in the last four matches.

The KwaZulu-Natal team has recorded five wins, two draws and two losses from their nine home matches this season. They are placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with 23 points from 20 matches.

The Limpopo side has won just one of their 10 matches on the road this season, suffering seven defeats in the process. ‘Lidoda Duvha’ are placed 15th on the Absa Premiership log with 14 points from 20 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Maritzburg and Leopards have met in five league matches since 2005/06. Lidoda Duvha has two wins, the Team of Choice one, and there have been two draws. Maritzburg have recorded one win and one draw from their two home matches against Leopards. When the teams met earlier this season in Limpopo, they played to a goalless draw.

Leopards will look to collect valuable points with the motivation from their on-form captain Mongezi Bobe when they meet Maritzburg in an Absa Premiership match at Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday, kick-off at 19h30.
